Unlock what's possible
Our name is deliberate. A scholar house is not a cram school — it is a place where a learner is given the time, quiet and attention to actually understand something. Most of the learners who come to us have been told, gently or otherwise, that they are not a maths person. Almost none of them are right about that.
What they usually are is under-taught in three or four specific places. A class of thirty-five cannot stop and rebuild Grade 8 factorisation for one learner in Grade 11. A tutor can, and that is the entire value of tutoring.
We keep the practice narrow on purpose. Mathematics for Grade 6 to 11, physics for Grade 9 to 11, and nothing else. Teaching both subjects with one tutor means the maths inside physics gets fixed instead of blamed.
How we teach
Diagnose before teaching
Every learner starts with an assessment. We would rather spend one session finding the real problem than a term treating the wrong one.
Understanding over memorising
A memorised formula survives one test. An understood method survives the whole of Grade 11.
The learner holds the pen
Watching a tutor solve problems is comfortable and almost useless. Learners work; tutors question.
Honest reporting
Parents get a plain note after each session, including the weeks where not much moved.
